CAIS 2026 is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where all participants—regardless of identity, background, career stage, or institutional affiliation—can contribute, learn, and thrive. We recognize that diverse perspectives strengthen research and innovation in AI systems.
Our Commitment
We are committed to creating an environment free from discrimination and harassment based on:
- Race, color, ethnicity, or national origin
- Gender identity or expression
- Sexual orientation
- Disability (visible or invisible)
- Age
- Religion or belief system
- Socioeconomic status or educational background
- Career stage or institutional affiliation
What This Means in Practice
- Equitable review processes with anti-bias training for reviewers
- Accessible venue and accommodations (see Accessibility page)
- Financial support through travel grants prioritizing underrepresented groups
- Mentorship programs connecting junior and senior researchers
- Diverse representation in organizing committees, program committees, and invited speakers
- Safe reporting mechanisms for concerns (see Code of Conduct)
Venue & Vendor Requirements
All venue and vendor contracts include non-discrimination clauses. Per ACM policy, CAIS reserves the right to cancel contracts without penalty if local or state legislation is enacted that:
- Repeals existing legal protections for protected groups
- Allows discrimination in employment, housing, or public accommodations
- Prohibits individuals from accessing facilities based on protected characteristics
This ensures our conference can maintain its commitment to inclusion regardless of changing local policies.
Travel Grants
We offer travel grants to support participation by researchers from underrepresented groups and those facing financial barriers. Application details will be posted with registration information.
Childcare Support
Lactation rooms will be available. We welcome supervised children in public conference areas. Contact us for local childcare referrals.
